My Story - Rebecca Fitzsimmons

I am a coloured pencil artist based in the Scottish Borders. I create detailed wildlife and nature inspired artwork that celebrates the birds, insects and other wildlife of this remarkable part of the world.

For as long as I can remember, nature has been where I go to reconnect with myself. I have always had a strong desire to create and draw from an early age. It's the one thing that I wanted to do in life. I enjoy being surrounded in nature along the riversides, or wandering through the countryside on a peaceful walk, the natural world has always held my attention and imagination.

I am a self taught artist that enjoys creating in various mediums, however, I prefer using coloured pencils to create my wildlife drawings. I am fascinated by smaller details that are often overlooked.

​

My work is a way of capturing various wildlife that can be found in the places I travel to, in particular, the Scottish Borders and Northumberland. Through my art, I hope to encourage people to slow down, notice the beauty around them, and reconnect with the wildlife and nature that surrounds us. 

​

Alongside my drawings, I share my experience as an artist to help other artists develop their skills and progress in their own creative journeys. I think its important that we all in embrace our creative side.
